Mayday's music enjoys incomparable popularity, transcends generations within the global Mandarin-speaking community, and has played a significant role in increasing Taiwan's worldwide presence. Wang Min-Hsu said although a Reuters report alleges that the Mainland sought a political statement from Mayday, Mainland authorities have yet to officially confirm this. If true, the Hou campaign strongly condemns such actions. The Mainland should not force musicians to take a political stance and music and art should remain free from political interference. Not only will fans reject such interference, but it will also seriously harm the feelings of people in Taiwan and does nothing to enhance cross-strait exchanges.
